Souran Bushi Dance for Undokai Part II

Undokai is only about a week away and the students have been learning all their different positions for the dance and final details.  We also talked more about how the song is about fishing and that the song shows the strength and power of those people.  I hope the students can imagine themselves on the boat working hard and pulling the heavy ropes using extended arms and their whole body with knees bent when they dance.  With good posture and strong movements the dance looks beautiful.  Here is a video we watched in class that the students can use to practice the postures at home.

Here's a fun video from Lego Robotics ASP.  Bahar and Hamad made a robot mouse trap that closes shut when the touch sensor is activated!

Souran Bushi Dance for Undokai

This year our dance for Undokai will be the Souran Bushi.  It's a traditional Japanese dance about fishermen and is very energetic! There are many movements and some of the transitions between parts can be very difficult.  After a week of practice the students are doing very well though! If you need a little extra practice at home then please watch this video of Nagasawa Sensei from Jinsho leading the first part of the dance and follow along.
