Turning in homework, pushing in chairs, doing their best work, and cleaning up after themselves are all very important parts of independent responsibility that the students learn to do in class.

Sometimes when a few students forget their responsibilities because they are too excited about eating or going out to play and then everyone needs to pitch in to help.
This week the students were having trouble eating without a mess and/or cleaning up after it so playtime turned into this!  We're still working on our responsibilities...

During our inquiry into communities the students made "Help Wanted" posters that advertised for jobs that they thought were needed in a certain community.  They learned about layout, shape, font, color, and impact to make a successful poster.  Afterwards everyone had a chance to share their thoughts on each others work through a peer assessment and reflect on their own in a self assessment.

Here, the students are making a final draft of their community art captions.  This project used community art that we found on the internet to spark our thoughts and better understand what a community is and means.  Students added captions of their thoughts to the artwork.

In music class we continued learning to read music.  The third grade class taught us what they learned in their music exchange activity about quarter notes and half notes by doing a cup percussion activity.  They did a great job teaching us how to keep rhythm when reading music.
