Learning Geometry with Toothpicks and Clay

To go along with our art inquiry, the students have also been learning about the characteristics of 3D shapes and how to draw them.  To better help them visualize and determine the number of vertices, edges, and faces on different shapes the students have been creating them using clay and toothpicks.  The toothpicks represent edges and the clay represents vertices which always them to easily see and count them on each shape.  Maybe some students will continue to explore 3D shapes more deeply
 and create art using 3D during our art inquiry!
